This article really caught my eye. I have never seen the words “Nike” and “subscription business” in the same sentence, or anywhere near each other before for that matter.
This is of interest to me because I’ve been researching different models to generate revenue lately and subscriptions have been a focus. So much so that I purchased a book on the topic, and it was fantastic.
The Automatic Customer: How to create a subscription business in any industry is must-read material for anyone serious about revenue models, growth and finding a business model that is sustainable. I’ve learned a ton of new information.
John Warrillow, the author, is also one of my favorite business “gurus” and one I read and listen to regularly. His perennial book Built to Sell: Creating a business that can thrive without you is also must-read for anyone hoping to sell a business one day, or for those simply not wanting their business to run them. His Built to Sell podcast is also one of the best I have ever heard – I listen to it regularly.
Here is the article. I encourage you to pay attention and see what happens with this. If successful it could be a sign of things to come not only for Nike, but for other businesses as well.
